sunshine.

I always feel more energetic when the sun is shinning, and I couldn't have picked a nicer day to spruce up Vanilla Hills courtyard. The dreary wooden fencing did absolutely nothing whilst making the space feel small and cramped. It didn't help there was furniture all over the place either, however i was convinced by the afternoon it would be transformed into somewhere you could relax and enjoy.

Wills & Kate

getting into the swing of things with some bunting.

far too much chocolate.

Happy Easter!

I have been on holiday for the past couple of weeks, hence a lack in posts but i hope to get up to date soon. Easter meant that jack came home and we had a lovely week rather than weekend, eating far too much chocolate and enjoying the amazing weather. After having a lovely Easter breakfast in the sun at his parents we trundled over to my aunts which is possibly the most eastery place to be. Chickens, ducks oh and a donkey...

Aldeburgh

spending the week by the sea was a nice way to enjoy the weather as well as a good opportunity to eat copious amounts of ice-cream.

we ventured out to Snape malting's half way through the week, a large warehouse full of anything and everything, from chic tables to kitchen utensils.

Happy Easter!

annie sloan.

having booked the course a while ago i couldn't quite understand how quickly it seemed to come around. anyway after a bit of a journey and a slight confusion as to where it actually was, i arrived at Annie Sloan interiors in oxford. anniesloan.com

i spent the day learning ways of painting furniture and gaining more of an understanding of colour, texture and choosing the right paint work for different pieces of furniture. a really beneficial and inspiring day. Annie has developed her own range of chalk based paints which were really good for achieving the   'french' look, without the pieces looking 'freshly painted'.

just a few photographs from midway through the day. we painted different effects on each section of the boards, none of the above are finished here...

spring forward.

paint paint paint.

today i had to catch up with what needed undercoating, top coating and waxing.

i painted the cabinet on the left in clunch 2009, farrow and ball. i just love the weird and wonderful names they come up with. the toy box is painted in natural hessian, dulux and we had a baby blue mixed for the interior.

on the way home i couldn't resist passing by the rubbish tip, and i picked up this lovely writing desk for £5. its a bit broken in places but nothing that cant be fixed. thought it would inspire me to have a freshen up in my room, possibly re painting the walls and moving some things around. not sure what colour i'm going to paint it yet, although think i will do the interior a complimenting shade.
