summer work.

as part of my summer work i needed to create a collection of items and then photograph them in order to use these prints as initial starting points when i arrive. some of these needed to be component pieces, i get the impression i will be using them to construct something.  just of few of my initial playing around photos.

i chose to photograph my collection on a wooden background as i thought it
really made my objects stand out.

some of the better ones happen by accident.

camping.

camping. despite the not so sunny weather forecast we packed the car (in the end) and headed off to Devon, we arrived to pouring rain and gale force winds. this meant we abandoned our first attempt to put the tent up, and contemplated  a couple of nights in a B&B. although after having lugged all the camping essentials and a few extra luxuries we decided we would stick it out and just get on with it.

the tent.

you can never be too far from an ELLE decoration magazine and yes those are scatter cushions.
not forgetting the fresh flowers.

a feature of my snazzy new camera. the sun did come out eventually!

the most beautiful tea rooms, serving the best cream teas.

mmmm.

despite the initial wet welcome to Devon we were surprisingly lucky with the weather.

jack.
the crystal clear water looks inviting yet it was absolutely freezing.

the seafood shop was highly recommended by the locals and I'm not surprised these prawns were delicious.

ending on a more textiley note, these bug homes were full of texture and patterns.

pick your own.

it gets to august and you imagine spending days relaxing in the garden, eating ice cream and laying in the sun. yet the reality seems to be quite different. despite the rain we huddled under awnings in our big jumpers and had an afternoon of laughter and lots of cake.

the village flower show.
these photos reflect my 'green' inspired living ideas.

flicking through.

there is nothing better than to grab a cup of tea and a magazine and spend time flicking through, i tend to keep up to date with Elle decoration and living etc however i like to browse other magazines that take my fancy. i thought i would start to pick things out that grab me and post them onto here, giving you all an extra insight into what i like and my influences.

a good place to start
Living ect & Elle Decoraion

i thought these colours were sophisticated yet fun, the plain coloured floor works well with the heavily patterned wall, although some might think the zebra print chair is one pattern too many i think it is perfectly complimented by the surrounding blocks of colour. i like the small colour chart, this is something i like to do, it can be useful as a reference to refer back to. a good starting point.

i found a magazine in waitrose called Editions, it was quite general although had some good pages on fashion and the latest gadgets. i did however come across this rather neat little shed that they had styled as a design studio. i love it! they give you some other ideas on how to use it, a music room etc but nothing as exciting as this. being priced slightly over £11,000 i don't think i will be rushing out to get one, although it has inspired me to create something on a slightly smaller scale. maybe that would be a good project for next summer!!

pink wellies. the perfect touch.

the music version. with a front on view underneath. incredibly tempting.

the textures and tranquility make this space something most people would love to work in, the windows have been left undressed, allowing as much natural light as possible, this really opens up the space.

i love the jars of threads in the background, a tip im taking with me to uni.

not long now.

well it is not long now until i pack my bags and leave for uni, a little excited although the thought of sharing a flat with 10 others is slightly daunting. i decided to see if i could tick the entire uni list off in one day, it went quite well, although im shattered.

the unloading of the car.

all sorted and ready to go.
