pick your own.

it gets to august and you imagine spending days relaxing in the garden, eating ice cream and laying in the sun. yet the reality seems to be quite different. despite the rain we huddled under awnings in our big jumpers and had an afternoon of laughter and lots of cake.

flicking through.

there is nothing better than to grab a cup of tea and a magazine and spend time flicking through, i tend to keep up to date with Elle decoration and living etc however i like to browse other magazines that take my fancy. i thought i would start to pick things out that grab me and post them onto here, giving you all an extra insight into what i like and my influences.

a good place to start
Living ect & Elle Decoraion

i thought these colours were sophisticated yet fun, the plain coloured floor works well with the heavily patterned wall, although some might think the zebra print chair is one pattern too many i think it is perfectly complimented by the surrounding blocks of colour. i like the small colour chart, this is something i like to do, it can be useful as a reference to refer back to. a good starting point.

i found a magazine in waitrose called Editions, it was quite general although had some good pages on fashion and the latest gadgets. i did however come across this rather neat little shed that they had styled as a design studio. i love it! they give you some other ideas on how to use it, a music room etc but nothing as exciting as this. being priced slightly over £11,000 i don't think i will be rushing out to get one, although it has inspired me to create something on a slightly smaller scale. maybe that would be a good project for next summer!!

pink wellies. the perfect touch.

the music version. with a front on view underneath. incredibly tempting.

the textures and tranquility make this space something most people would love to work in, the windows have been left undressed, allowing as much natural light as possible, this really opens up the space.

i love the jars of threads in the background, a tip im taking with me to uni.

not long now.

well it is not long now until i pack my bags and leave for uni, a little excited although the thought of sharing a flat with 10 others is slightly daunting. i decided to see if i could tick the entire uni list off in one day, it went quite well, although im shattered.

the unloading of the car.

all sorted and ready to go.

mudeford

i think i worked it out to be our 16th annual visit to mudeford yesterday, of course the British summer meant that it was a rather wet trip however the sun did peak through occasionally. we go with another family and just spend the whole day relaxing. its beautiful.

if i owned a beach hut this would be it. with a price tag of a small house, i think i might have to wait!

it wouldn't be a complete day at mudeford without a bit of crabbing.

and then the rain led to a quick getaway

although by the afternoon it had cleared up.
and i enjoyed the biggest ice cream.

the fields of bliss.

i realised i didn't put up any pictures of one of the more memorable events of the summer.
Blissfields festival.

surprisingly we got the tent up quite quickly.

dancing away...

possibly the best part of the weekend, the throwing away of Helen's very smelly shoes.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Maddie.
i thought this was a reasonable result for a first attempt!

summer evenings.

having not really posted much since i have been on holiday; mainly due to the fact i forget to carry my camera around, i did however remember last night. and will make an effort to take it with me from now on. having spent most the day clearing out, i decided to have an evening relaxing with jack in the garden. i used some of my more makeshift textile skills to turn one corner into something quite beautiful.

i found some old bottles, and picked flowers that complimented one another.
candles always make an area more elegant.

i used cream cushions to accessorise, along with a table runner.

the candles and lighting really enhanced the surroundings once night fell.
