bicycle baskets & chic cabinets

Even something as tatty as this old bicycle can be easily spruced up with a lick of paint. With the added touches of a basket full of flowers and a hand made sign, it will be the perfect advertising board to stand outside Vanilla Hill.

Just thought I would have a go at putting this together, as I felt like having a play. I quite like it.

A fresh, country themed interior mood board. I chose the blues and yellows, as I feel they deviate from traditional country pinks.

Two Chairs and Six Glass bottles.

I found these at the tip on my way home, they need sanding back and re painting. I have decided to get back into designing and creating my own soft furnishings too, so I might start by creating some linen cushions to compliment the pair of chairs. Stripes probably.

Thought these glass bottles would make quirky vases.

Vanilla Hill.

For that chic french look, head to Vanilla Hill in Midhurst, it is heaven! Run by the lovely Bea I was given the opportunity to paint some furniture for the shop, so today I put on an old top and got the paintbrushes out. If only I could have taken the piece home with me...

Inspiration.

Last friday I thought I would take a trip to the Petersfield antiques fair, hoping to find an array of interesting objects to rummage through, although it turned out to be quite high end with price tags to raise the roof. Good to know anyway, and I did enjoy looking at the exquisite vintage jewellery although not near as fun as rummaging round charity shops and at the rubbish tip.

Just another charity shop find.
Candlestick holder - £4

I thought that it would be a good idea to start a folder full of pages of magazines that inspire me. I have far too many magazines lying around and once I have read them they just seem to collect dust so I thought if I were to tear out the pages I truly like then all my inspiration will be in one place. I'm not usually one for tearing magazines up but I thought this would be a good way to get ideas together. The pages are from a selection of design magazines, Livingetc and Elle decoration being a couple that I particularly enjoy flicking through.

Just a few pages.
